Google Search Prank

Here is something for you to try. Using Google, do a search for:

french military victories

And use the “I’m feeling lucky” button. There is no need to quote it.

What results is the efforts of a very clever Search Engine Optimizer (SEO) from Toronto, Canada who wanted to play a prank on the French. It worked. The resulting page is a Google rip off page that tells you that there is no pages matching the query and did you mean French military defeats instead.

Now this is quite clever. What this person has done is had numerous links created with clever wording to get his page up high in googles page ranking system to the extent that it's almost guaranteed to come up every time. It seems to have been working for quite some time as there is considerable reference to it all the way back to 2003.

DONT go anywhere else on the site though and don't leave your email address anywhere. It's a known spammer site. Just enjoy the one funny thing he's done and don't get sucked into the rest which is a real shame.

The Queen of New Zealand, Helen Clark today signed the sale documents selling the islands of New Zealand to Australia for a token sum of one cow and three sheep. The King of Australia, John Howard was delighted to have another state to add to Australia especially one so rich in sheep and cows. He said he believed the three sheep and a cow was an investment in all our futures.

Australians have for many years seen the two New Zealand Islands as states of Australia.

Queen Helen, New Zealands Queen will become the Premier of the North Island and Shania Twain will become premier of the South Island as she already owns quite a bit of it.
